Notice the angle of the picture. It has been taken in a way so as to place the viewer in the shoes of the presenter. Place yourself in that position for a few moments and enter into the mindset of the presenter. How might you be feeling? Nervous? Excited?
Whether you are a CEO or a stay-at-home parent, consider your life and your spheres of influence. Who do you feel you have to present for and who might your “audience” be in your life?
Consider, for example, the audiences of Mary and Martha in Matthew 10:38-42. In this passage, Martha is busy and “distracted by her many tasks” while her sister Mary is sitting at Jesus’s feet, “listening to what He said”. When Martha demands that Jesus tell Mary to her her, he responds, “you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary.”
Now reflect on your various “audiences” again. In what ways might you audiences be causing you to be distracted, worried, and upset? And how can attending to the one thing needed transform those feelings and enable you to be a more true presenter?
